Affiliation : Principal Investigator, Division of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow
Title of the Talk/Lab :
Dr. Mrigank Srivastava, obtained his Ph.D. (“summa cum laude”) in Immunology from Justus-Liebig University, Germany in 2005 where his interests focused on understanding the role of mononuclear phagocytes during acute inflammatory conditions in the lungs. Between 2005-2008, he worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Hannover Medical School, Germany where he studied the role of Dendritic cells and Macrophages during Mycobacterial and Pneumococcal infections. He did his second post-doctoral training (2008-2010) at the prestigious Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA where he investigated the role of CCR9 receptor in Graft Versus Host Disease (GVHD), a potentially fatal complication of Allogeneic Hematopoietic Stem-Cell Transplantation (HSCT). Since 2010, Dr. Srivastava is the Principal Investigator in the Division of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology at CSIR-Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow, India where his interests lie in investigating the various immune evasion strategies adopted by the human filarial nematode Brugia malayi to overcome the protective host immune response. His lab is also involved in the drug discovery and development of new anti-filarials. Dr. Srivastava has used Flow Cytometry as a major tool throughout his academic and scientific career to address fundamental immunological questions and has published his findings in peer reviewed international journals like J. Immunol., Eur. J Immunol., Front. Immunol., J Leukoc Biol., Infect. Immun., Immunology, Am. J. Resp. Crit. Care Med., Cell. Microbiol., J. Infect. Dis., Vaccine, ACS-Infect. Dis. etc. He is the recipient of the SERB STAR award 2021, Dept. of Science & Technology, Govt. of India.
