Dr. Mrityunjay Tyagi is a Scientific Officer (G) in the Bio-Organic Division at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai. He did his M.Sc. Biotech From Madurai Kamaraj University, Tamil Nadu in 2005 and obtained his PhD in Life Sciences from the Homi Bhabha National Institute in 2017. His research focuses on cancer biology, DNA damage response, autophagy, and the mechanisms underlying chemo- and radio-resistance, utilising advanced molecular and cell biology approaches, as well as animal tumour models.
Dr. Tyagi has made significant contributions to understanding DNA repair pathways and cancer therapeutics, with publications in several high-impact journals, including Nature Communications, Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, and Free Radical Biology and Medicine. His work spans fundamental mechanisms of DNA end-joining, redox biology, and mitochondrial dysfunction in cancer.
